It's no secret, MAKE loves local artists. All of our MAKE Originals are designed by local Vancouver artists, most of which are MAKE staff! Come join us in celebrating local Vancouver talent at the Hey Local! Pop-Up Shop from February 14th to the 17th! RSVP on Facebook.
We have gathered a handful of Vancouver artists to show off their best stuff! They will be selling anything from shirts to art prints and from buttons to mugs. Here's some of the friendly faces you will see:
Andrea Hooge is a local artist who makes awesome pop culture and animal magnets, among other cool creations! Living and working out of her home studio in East Vancouver, she’s also had her art featured in a number of solo exhibitions and group shows. She finds her inspiration from the nostalgia of vintage magazines and childrens books.
Ole Originals started in 2008 when tastefully designed, nicely fitted, and good quality t-shirts were difficult to find. All Ole Originals tees are limited editions with a retro look and soft feel. The graphics are inspired by travel, culture, wildlife, and the places we love and they are still silk-screened by hand in beautiful Vancouver BC, Canada.
Reclaimed print prides itself on being 100% Canadian designed and made! They are committed to offering quality artworks & home decor products using locally sourced & sustainable wood & stone. A lot of their designs focus on the nature that is native to Canada which includes wildlife, our beloved maple leaf, and more! Their coasters and art pieces make great gifts.
Taylor Bourque is a graphic designer based out of Vancouver, BC who specializes in typography and illustration. Graduating from VCAD with a graphic design diploma in 2016, she dove into the freelance design world and never looked back. When she’s not creating band shirts, she’s posting daily art on her Instagram @taylorbourquedesigns.
Characteristically vibrant paintings, her art is inspired by the perceivable patterns that exist in everyday life through textiles, design, and architecture, as well as nature’s universal patterns on both the larger and microscopic scale. Through abstracted points of perspective and a geometric language, she creates worlds that dwell in a strange gravity mixed with personal symbology. Her process often employs stylistic constraints as a means to draw out imagery from her subconscious.
Flow & Design creates oiginal abstract resin homewares + art with wood and resin. Fascinated by resin’s abstract and organic look, designer Jocelyn Pransky beautifully marries Resin with reclaimed wood. Inspired by life and art in motion she creates these pieces to spark joy in everyday items.
